The Shikaku Room

What to do

Shikaku is normally played on a rectangular grid. Some of the squares in the grid are numbered. The objective is to divide the grid into rectangular and square sections such that each section contains exactly one number, that number representing the area of the rectangle or square. Hit "Go" or "Create your own" below to play (click and drag to draw a section).

About Shikaku

Shikaku was invented by the Japanese publisher Nikoli. There are a few different methods that are useful in solving a shikaku puzzle. For hints on how to play and solve puzzles have a look at How To Play. I also explain how my solver works in the FAQ, so check that out as well. I would appreciate any feedback. Have fun :)
